With the economy doing horrible, people are turning to the internet for answers. The internet can be your best friend but be aware of all the scams on the internet. Below are some tips on how to prevent yourself from being scammed
1. If it is too good to be true, it usually is. Stay away.
2. If you get an email in your inbox, do not click the link in the email. The best thing to do is to get the name of the company who sent you the email and google their with the word scam in there. If it is a scam, you will find out about it. For example, if the company’s name is abc, type “abc scam” (without the ” )
3. Never pay money up front for home-based businesses. There are a few legit home-based businesses but none of them ask for money upfront.
4. Ask your friends before buying something or making a decision. If your friends do not know the answer to your questions, ask them politely if they can ask around.
Also, CNN has a great article on the 5 scams on the rise.
