How to come out stronger in this economy

As you all know the economy is not doing too well.  Here are some questions you should be asking yourself:

  • What am I doing to better myself during the economy?
  • Is my job safe?
  • Do I have enough money saved up?

Bettering yourself

I  am pursuing my CGA certification.   I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  I could be satisfied with this degree but I know once I get my CGA certification, I will have the chance to be offered a job with more security and better salary.

Job status

As far as I know, my job is very safe.  If you are in the same boat, it will not hurt to update your resume and scan the job market in your field.  Also, it is very important to step your game up at work.  Go the extra mile and if layoffs have to be made, your job can be saved depending on your effort.  If you work your tail off now, you can reap in the benefits once the economy turns around.  You could be promoted or a bonus might be coming your way.

Bank account

It is very important to have an emergency fund during this economy.  Some of you will already be using part of that.  An emergency fund should be sufficient enough to last your 6-8 months.   If you are living paycheck to paycheck, you need to find a way to put some money away in the bank.

There are just some things you can do during the current economic recession.  What are you doing to better yourself during these hard times?

As long as you work hard at your job and give everything you go and your boss sees that, you should be in good shape.

@ Teri Great point but sometimes everything you give is just not good enough.
